Things To Do In Plymouth, Michigan

Art, History & Community

Plymouth, Michigan offers a wide variety of things to do for everyone. It is the home to Penn Theatre, Kellogg Park, Plymouth Historical Museum, USA Hockey Area and the Plymouth Orchard and Cider Mill. Penn Theatre is no ordinary theatre, its grand opening was December 4th, 1941. It remained open with several different owners until 2003. In 2005, the city of Plymouth came together and ensured it would reopen. Thanks to the Penn Theatre Realty, LLC Group who purchased it and reopened it in 2005, it has housed over 630,000 patrons since it’s reopening in December 2005. It is now leased to the non-profit organization, Friends of the Penn, for $1.00 a year.

Plymouth is filled with history in every nook and cranny. The Plymouth Historical Museum hosts multiple events throughout the year. Their yearly “Ghosts Cemetery Walk” usually sells out. It has been open since 1948 and is a Victorian recreation of Plymouth’s Main Street. All ages can enjoy a look back in time to the Victorian times. Do you like to enjoy 18 holes on the golf course? Well Plymouth houses four different highly rated golf courses; Fox Hills Golf Course, Brae Burn Golf Course, Hilltop Golf Course and St. John’s Inn & Golf Course. The Brae Burn Golf Course has the longest 5 par hole in the state.

Plymouth hosts the second largest Art Fair and the oldest ice carving festival in North America. The Miracle League of Plymouth removes the barriers for anyone who faces mental and physical disabilities in order to play baseball. Their fields are made of customized, rubberized turf that is accessible for wheelchairs. Players of all ages and abilities are welcome to play. They have served over 100,000 children and adults. Plymouth also houses one of the locations for Paralyzed Veterans of America. It is just one of the thirty four chapters throughout the country. They provide resources for housing, veteran benefits, medical equipment, educational scholarships and sponsors events such as The Detroit Free Press “Wheelchair/Hand Cycle Division”. Their mission is to help enhance the lives of veterans with spinal injuries and other diseases, as well as assisting the community and any citizen with a disability.
